The Financial Administration published technical documentation for EET 2.0 and for the first time showed a specific launch schedule — live operation is scheduled to begin at the beginning of 2027. After Wednesday's first reading in the Chamber of Deputies, the second, much more specific step came. On June 5, 2026, the Financial Administration published technical information and documentation for EET 2.0 — basic materials for the preparation and integration of cash register systems, contact information, and, most importantly, a schedule of further steps. The materials are primarily aimed at developers and suppliers of cash register solutions, not directly at entrepreneurs. "Our goal is to give developers and entrepreneurs enough time to prepare," said the Financial Administration, adding that it wants to make the entire process predictable and without surprises.
While the EET 2.0 Act has only passed its first reading so far, technical preparation is underway in parallel. This is a shift compared to the original EET from 2016–2020, when many merchants solved cash registers at the last minute. The schedule includes several phases: after the publication of the documentation, the Playground testing environment for the revenue side of the register will come, then the availability of EET functions in the Tax Information Box Plus (DIS+) on the MY TAXES portal, including the generation of cash register certificates, then the MY EET application for small entities, and finally the start of regular operation, which is to be preceded by a pilot regime. The Financial Administration is also organizing professional seminars — the first will take place on June 23, 2026 in Prague, developer registration runs until June 17 at seminareet2@fs.gov.cz. We will be there for you to bring you fresh information.
For the POS and payment solutions market, it is important that EET 2.0, according to available information, is also intended to affect card payments, not just cash. This brings the world of POS systems and payment terminals closer together — and gives a new reason to address how the POS and terminal communicate with each other.
Our advice for the next few days
- Ask your cash register and terminal supplier if and when their solution will support EET 2.0 — we will soon publish an article on how current providers are doing.
- If you are a developer or integrator, register for the Financial Administration seminar (June 23, 2026, Prague) by June 17.
- Don't rush into changing your hardware just yet. Live operation is planned for early 2027, so it's time to choose wisely. We'll help you with this soon - a surprise is on the way!
- Check whether your solution can handle card payments, not just cash.
- Compare today's cash register + terminal setup — a unified solution from one provider is usually easier to keep track of.
